Happy Holidays!

2018 has been such an amazing year and we are looking forward to even greater things in 2019! It is so exciting that all of you have joined us in our first year of Central Texas Archery. As we close out our first calendar year, here are a few of the latest highlights and some news about what is coming next.

State Indoor and Aggie Invitational Tournament

Congratulations to the area archers who competed in the State Indoor and Aggie Invitational Tournament the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. It was a fun weekend getting to see friends from around the state. Some of our archers had very successful shoots and even brought home some bling! We would really love to see a photo of your medal. Share it to the Central Texas Archery Facebook page.

Holiday Banquet

Our members gathered earlier this month to eat, visit, and enjoy being part of our archery family off the range. Awards were given for the Fall League. Congratulations to Tyler (1st), Dale (2nd), and Kelly (3rd) for earning top spots in the Central Texas Archery Fall Archery League.

Events and Hours for December

Holiday Spirit Shoot – There will be one more Explore Archery Event for the community to come try archery for free this year. This Saturday, December 22, from 10 AM – 12 PM, everyone who is 8 and older can come out and try their hand at archery for free. This is a rescheduled event that had to be canceled due to rain.

Driveway Work Days – Between now and January, we will be working to put in driveway 2.0. We are adding culverts to help with drainage, making the driveway a straight shot to the parking area, and building it up a bit higher so that the weather will have a smaller impact on whether we are open or not. We will send out an email with days and times. Volunteers will be greatly appreciated as a shared load is always easier to carry!

Holiday Hours – We will be open through December 23rd. From the 24th to January 3rd, we will be available by appointment only with no scheduled classes. Members can come shoot by appointment or during the times we are on site working on the driveway.

Our Extended Archery Family

14 year old Tyler, who is part of the Houston archery community, was burned over 85% of his body in a tragic accident on November 23rd, 2018. Central Texas Archery made a donation to help with his medical costs and we want to let you all know about the event and donation information in case you would like to help as well. There is an archery shoot at his home range, X10 Archery, in Houston. 100% of the profits from this event will be donated to Tyler’s family, who face medical bills and related expenses as they navigate a long road ahead. SYWAT style shoot at 9 AM $20/adult $10/youth. Sign up here: http://store.x10archery.com/hot/products/tyler-s-fundraiser-field-shoot. If you would like, you can also donate immediately at https://www.gofundme.com/6gm5b5c

We hope that 2018 has been a wonderful year for you, that you have a beautiful and joyous holiday season and that 2019 brings you great happiness!

Happy shooting!

Kat, Eric, and Jessica
